Just your average small town - 6/10/2022
I've lived here for all of my life. There are definitely cities that are a whole lot worse than Cherryville, but Cherryville isn't exactly the best. I'd say it is about as average as you can get for a small suburban southern town. As you would expect from a small town, it is very religious, very conservative, crime is not a big issue, and it has a pretty tight-knitted community. Cost of living as well as home prices are very low too. But just like other small towns, it has its issues, such as lack of jobs as well as not much to do. It does at least make up for that with its close proximity to Gastonia and Charlotte, but you won't really find much to do in Cherryville itself.Now the biggest issue with Cherryville are the people. People who live in the city limits tend to have a very snarky and superior attitude towards people from elsewhere. Typical southern small town - 4/6/2008
In general, many people in and around this area have a tendency to be clannish. If you are willing to stay there for a decade or so, you may be finally fully accepted. People have a tendency to be provincial, conservative, religious, and close-minded. Cherryville usually has a great high school baseball team and little league system. They have won state championships in the past. Some kids get killed or injured racing their cars down those winding country roads. I spent my teenage years there during the eighties. I can´t say it´s all bad. I did manage to make some good friends there. If you want to move to the area, I would suggest moving to Shelby
